Tree Surgery
Trees are an important part of our landscape, providing shade, privacy, wildlife habitat and visual appeal. However, they also require ongoing management to remain safe, healthy and suitable for their surroundings.
At MINT Commercial Ltd, we provide professional arboricultural services for residential, commercial and public sector clients throughout Birmingham and the Midlands. From routine pruning and hedge maintenance to complex dismantling operations and tree inspections, we approach every job with the same focus on safety, professionalism and quality workmanship.
We understand that no two trees are the same. Every site presents different challenges, whether that is limited access, nearby buildings, highways, underground services, public access or protected trees. Our role is to assess those challenges and provide a practical solution that meets the client's objectives while considering tree health, safety and legal requirements.

Our Approach
We believe good arboriculture starts with good decision-making.
Not every tree needs removing, and not every problem requires a drastic solution. We take the time to understand what the client is trying to achieve and provide honest recommendations based on the condition of the tree, site constraints and long-term management requirements.
Our work is carried out by trained and experienced arborists using appropriate equipment and industry-recognised techniques. Whether undertaking a simple crown lift or dismantling a large tree over a building, our aim is always to complete the work safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
We are committed to continual improvement through training, assessment and industry best practice. Our company is currently working towards Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor status as part of our ongoing development.

Access and Specialist Equipment
Some trees can be worked from the ground. Others require climbing, specialist access equipment or advanced rigging systems.
MINT Commercial Ltd operates a Hinowa Lightlift 17.75 spider lift, allowing us to safely access trees in locations that may be difficult or unsuitable for traditional climbing alone. We also utilise modern rigging equipment to safely lower branches and sections of timber where free-falling material would present a risk to people, property or landscaping.
Where ground conditions are sensitive, we use techniques such as brash mats and track mats to reduce damage and minimise disruption.
Our goal is not simply to complete the work, but to leave the site clean, safe and in good condition once the job is finished.

Safety and Compliance
Tree work is a high-risk activity and should always be carried out by competent professionals.
Safety forms part of every stage of our work, from planning and risk assessment through to completion on site. We comply with relevant health and safety legislation and follow recognised industry guidance and best practice.
Where required, we can provide risk assessments, method statements, traffic management arrangements and communication plans for commercial projects.
MINT Commercial Ltd holds £10 million Public Liability Insurance and £500,000 Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Protected Trees
Trees protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or located within a Conservation Area may require permission before work can be undertaken.
We can advise clients on the process and, where required, assist with applications and supporting information. If a tree is protected, we will always seek to ensure that the correct permissions are obtained before work proceeds.
Commercial and Residential Clients
We carry out work for homeowners, schools, housing associations, property management companies, local authorities and commercial organisations.
Our clients have included organisations such as Housing 21, the University of Leicester, the Department for Work and Pensions, Department of Justice sites, Axis CLC and Concept Building Services.
Whether managing a single garden tree or delivering larger commercial projects, we aim to provide the same level of professionalism, communication and attention to detail.

FAQs
In some cases, especially if the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or located in a conservation area, permission from your local authority is required before any work can be carried out. MINT Commercial Ltd can advise on this process and assist with obtaining any necessary permissions.
Safety is a top priority at MINT Commercial Ltd. Our team uses industry-leading equipment, such as the Hinowa 17.75 for working at height, and follows strict safety protocols. We also carry out detailed risk assessments before beginning any job to ensure the safety of our staff, clients, and the surrounding area.
After completing tree surgery, MINT Commercial Ltd ensures all waste is responsibly handled. We remove branches, leaves, and debris from the site and recycle or dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner. Depending on client preferences, we can also leave woodchips for use in landscaping or mulch. Our goal is to leave your property clean and safe while minimizing environmental impact.
The frequency of tree surgery depends on the type, age, and condition of the tree, as well as its environment. Generally, most trees benefit from maintenance every 3-5 years. However, certain trees or locations may require more frequent attention to ensure they remain healthy and safe. MINT Commercial Ltd can provide expert advice on the best schedule for your trees.
